Attorney Brittany Whittington
After several years of representing clients as a Civil Rights Attorney, Brittany went on to represent the people of the state of California as a Deputy District Attorney. In this capacity, she spent a significant amount of time prosecuting cases that assisted in creating safer communities and provided victims of crime the opportunity to use their voice. Brittany has experience prosecuting all misdemeanors and serious and violent felonies. As a Deputy District Attorney, I pride myself on having never given anyone a first-time felony conviction. She utilized her position and realized her perspective and background afforded her the opportunity to impact lives on both sides of the criminal justice system. She has a unique ability to take jurors back to the day of the crime, prove the facts and secure a conviction.
She currently applies those same skills and passion as the Founding Attorney of Whittington Law Firm. Attorney Whittington has over a a decade of experience practicing civil and criminal law, Attorney Whittington is a former deputy district attorney with over 200 jury trials and several successful million dollar civil settlements. She is a coach and board member of Girls on the Run, a program that builds confidence and self-esteem in the next generation of young girls through mentorship, exercise and group activities. She also have planned, hosted and facilitated numerous “Know Your Rights” forums, which bring together law enforcement and the local community that they serve. These forums are special as it creates an opportunity to bridge the gap and meet officers in a different, non-confrontational setting and counter act implicit biases or racism that permeates through this world. I am also a mentor at Jesse Bethel High School, where I encourage students to pursue careers in the legal arena.
She services as the Chair of the Solano County Black Lawyers, Judicial Chair of the Charles Houston Bar Association and she is a member of the Bay Area Women’s Lawyer Association.
Her latest and very rewarding accomplishment is a children’s book series that will inspire children at their earliest learning level. Layla the Lawyer book series is about an African American girl that wants to be a lawyer. In each book Layla utilizes her gift to advocate for fellow classmates. This book allows kids to enhance skills that we use every day as lawyers. With this book series, She goes to libraries and schools in the bay area to read and motivate the next generation of lawyers. She along with other community partners, have donated almost 500 copies and she has participated in several community book reads.
